Preventive Care
A person should undergo a preventive medical examination at least once a year. It helps uncover underlying diseases, risk factors and early stages of cancer.
Course of the examination
- Blood samples, ECG and physical examination take place in a single day at the office and last approximately 60-90 minutes.
- Laboratory results are usually received the next day.
- The physician reviews the results with the client, provides a medical report and may propose treatment, lifestyle changes or further examinations.
The check-up includes
- Detailed medical history, current and previous health status, childhood and adult diseases, injuries, surgery, risk factors, lifestyle and family history.
- Vaccination check, including mandatory, recommended and booster vaccinations.
- Blood pressure, pulse and body mass index.
- Complete physical evaluation of heart, arteries, lungs, liver, spleen, gastrointestinal tract, skin and locomotor system.
- Basic oncological examination of lymph nodes, skin tumours, thyroid gland and oral cavity.
- Eyesight and colour-vision check, general neurological examination and ECG.
- Laboratory urine analysis and blood laboratory analysis.
- Stool test for occult bleeding to support early detection of intestinal cancer.
Possible extensions
- Further laboratory tests, including hepatitis markers and tumour markers such as PSA in men.
- Genetic examination, for example BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 when indicated.
- Chest X-ray, especially useful for smokers to rule out early lung cancer.
- Specialist examinations such as colonoscopy, gastroscopy, echocardiography and others.
- Physiotherapy, ophthalmology, mammology and urology examinations when needed.
